Arsenal are definitely not going to be considered as one of the favourites for the Premier league title in the coming season, as they have not won this title in the last nine years. In fact, they have not won any trophy in the last eight seasons, which is a huge monkey on the back of manager Arsene Wenger. However, he has stated that the club is in a great position to finally mount a title challenge in the new season. He has said that Arsenal will be going out to win this trophy in the same way that they did back in 2004.
Arsenal will be coming back to England after having done extremely well in the pre-season tour in Asia, according to the best soccer blog. This is one of the few times that Arsenal have been on tour to a far flung region. So far, Wenger has resisted the lure to put money over pre-season preparations. Despite being on the other side of the world, they have an excellent work when it comes to pre-season preparations according to the Frenchman. He has stated that the club is well advanced of their plans already. The new Premier league season will start in a couple of weeks.
“We are well advanced in our preparation. It depends now on how quickly we’ll recover from that trip because it was very difficult. It will take a few days to recover from that. We wanted a competitive game. We got one. Overall, [Urawa] are a team that plays very deep defensively and comes out quickly. It was a good test for us. We had four very hard sessions in the last two days and we had to dig deep [yesterday] to get through. That’s part of pre-season,” said Wenger, whose team will face Aston Villa at home on the opening day.
