Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has once again shows the importance of finishing in the top four for Arsenal. The club recently managed to achieve this objective after a 1-0 win over Newcastle United. This has helped the team finished just above Tottenham in the table. It has kept them going in the Champions League group stages for more than 15 consecutive seasons. Arsenal have been one of the inform teams in the race for the top four over the last few months. Wenger has said that this consistency has been extremely crucial for the club because it would help them continue to attract the top players.
Laurent Koscielny scored the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win against Newcastle. Despite the top four ambitions of the club, there has been several criticisms for manager Arsene Wenger. He has failed to get Arsenal to a major trophy for the last eight years. They have been unable to win even the likes of the League Cup as well. However, qualifying for the Champions League group stages has enabled the club to make a profit on a consistent basis over the last few years. They are on course to becoming one of the best clubs in the world.
“Qualification means it is easier to bring in players when we have a chance to be in the Champions League. In the last three months, we have been remarkably consistent. We need stability and strength in our group, because there are many clubs out there with a lot of money. The competition is very hard and there is not as much talent as there is money today in football. I’m happy because the exceptional attitude and determination from the players has been rewarded,” said Wenger in the interview after the Newcastle United match.
